If you know me well, in person, you know that I’m an androgyny (combination of masculine and feminine characteristics). Most people describe and know me as a tomboy, which I am and it’s basically how you will find me if you get to hang around me more often. Mine is more of a style and personality though because most of my preferences are the male version of things. I’m a huge fan of men’s lotion, colognes, Deodorants, of course clothes (most of the time) and you’ll always find me in sneakers, sweatpants t-shirts/vests. Growing up, I used to play and hang out with boys a lot (till date though I don’t play anymore lol) and also I’m good in most handy jobs which are considered masculine, though I’m a kitchen ninja too.
I haven’t really showed this side of me in this blogging journey though, but as I said in my previous post, this new year will come with new things so that is one aspect that I’m planning to feature from time to time, so as to inspire other androgynies like me and also basically embracing who I truly am and more comfortable to be.
Honestly, being girly is not a struggle to me. Also, it’s not like I struggle to blog about that feminine side of me but let’s just say, I can balance the both worlds easily and perfectly well. Few years back, I thought of embracing the feminine side if me but issa struggle I tell you, though I have managed to pull it off on most occasions. After much thought about it, I decided to remain a tomboy which comes with less hustles and fuss. You won’t believe that on my first date with my boyfriend I actually wore a vest-top, pair of shorts and sneakers! Yes! And he was completely ok with that, how cool! Sometimes society dictates what/how we women should wear, how we should look and behave but I always say to hell with what the society thinks and be you. Whether you do good and bad, society will still judge you especially as a woman, so, Be You boo, no one matters, life’s for the living you know!! Embrace your personality, sexuality and characters and strut on them with no apologies. After all, we all live once!
Anyway, enough of the preaching and much justifications before I look like I’m trying hard to explain and justify myself. No one cares, do you? That’s your opinion.
So on this styling, I went very simple with it. See how I wore the same color, t-shirt and pants without making the outfit look boring and dull and added a simple necklace and a pocket square which is ankara, project DIY, as minimal accessories. Simplicity is key to me, always. Completed the look with a blazer and my favorite shoes in my closet currently and you will spot me in them often. By the way, most days you will find me dressed like these to the office….yes, I’m just being me.
Until next post, catch you then. Be inspired, Be you. XO. ♥
Whole look thrifted.
