Hello beautiful people!

It’s no secret that the millennial style crowd loves to inject a little drama into their outfits, and the statement sleeves are currently the ideal way to do so.  To think they are all the rage now, Bell sleeves and cold-shoulders tops are having a moment in the world of fashion right now and I think they are going to stay as the main stream fashion for some time now. Like it or not, everybody is wearing bell shaped sleeves and yes, you should invest in a few quality pieces if you are a little fashion forward or even if not, you gotta try them though..

I’m not the type of person who likes to jump on every single trend, but I came across this dress on an online shop on Facebook and I was like, why not?! Not only does it showcase two different trends, the cold-shoulder and the bell sleeves, it also comes in Ankara fabric! What a piece, and an investment for that matter! These are trends that are not only fun to wear, but they are also relatively easy to pull off so I learnt. My biggest style tip for investing in such trends, is to pick a color palette or prints that you’re comfortable with because sometimes later, you may look at that particular outfit and hate it simply because of the huge sleeves but the color will make you keep it. Although I’m not a fan of huge sleeves, this dress actually made me think otherwise especially after I saw the photos and concluded that everyone can look good in almost everything, simply depending on how you style it. Also the color and the print of the Ankara is so vibrant and the sleeves are a bit huge, which makes it so fun! I can’t say enough good things about these trends; they are chic, fashionable and old fashioned – simultaneously and the fact that they were made in Ankara, makes the whole piece timeless because yeah, we are back to the 70’s trends and all….how fashion repeats itself, right?..

For such statement pieces, make sure to keep the rest of your look simple, otherwise, there may be too much going on that may throw off the whole look. You can simply add a belt to accentuate your waist and the outcome will still be good.

So, don’t let flare bottoms have all the fun, let the sleeves speak too. Until next post, see yah! Xo.

I love the print of the dress and the setting of the shoot…. They do rhyme.
