You can’t say bread, without butter. I mean, how is bread really, without butter? For me it’s either butter or margarine otherwise no bread. I know you are wondering what’s all these about bread even before I say hi to you guys, lol. As a foodie, 99.9% of the time, food is always on my mind. Even in any conversation I have, I must mention food. That’s how much of a foodie I am.

Now, replace food with shorts and you’ll get what I’m trying to say. Simply, I can’t mention style, looks, outfits and everything to be worn and leave a pair of shorts out. I’m a tomboy, what do you expect? Shorts are perfect for people like me who are too casual and basic in their walking and sitting. Like my legs are always apart, or when walking, I tend to spring like a man sometimes (from what friends tell me), so imagine doing that in a dress! Disaster, yeah?

My love for shorts has made me find ways of styling them formally.  If you are working in a creative or casual office or attending a business meeting, here are few things to consider when wearing that short to a formal setting:

Make ‘Em Nice

The main reason shorts are discouraged from the workplace is because they’re super-casual and can easily read unprofessional. And they’re right to be! Go for something tailored that feel more like short pants than shorts. Leave the cargo pockets out, and make sure they hit just above your knees. No fraying!

Steer Clear of Prints and Patterns, Everywhere

Your shorts should be a solid color, and they should be dark, too. But you should be avoiding loud prints everywhere else, too. You’re not on vacation gurl! Prints can be artful with suits fine, but we suggest keeping everything relatively simple with shorts. Something subtle is okay, but anything more reads very “leisure time.” That’s for after 5:00 P.M.

Assess Your Day

If you’ve got a big meeting coming up with some clients, your bosses, or any big wigs, you should just play it safe. Stick with pants, hunnay, save that payslip! Though your typical work day may allow for some breezy shorts, you want to bring your A-game when you’re expected to. Save the shorts for an easy day.

Treat Your Legs Like Your Face

We presume you take pretty good care of your face. You keep it nice and clean, groomed, and as blemish-free as possible. If you’re going to show your legs to the world, you should think of them the same way. Should you be covered in bruises from mountain-biking, suffering from some dry skin, or rolling with scars and spots, maybe this isn’t the move for you. Remember, you’re trying to present an overall nice package.

Avoid Sneakers

This is the same concept as the T-shirts. Throwing a pair of sneakers on, even a very minimal pair makes everything entirely too chill. Strap on your sandal heels, slip into your pumps, or a pair of loafers. Some nice statement shoes because that’ll be a way of flossing them indirectly!

Wear a Coat

We’re into shorts with T-shirts, and T-shirts with pants, but when you double up on the casual factor, you’re in weekend territory. Simply throwing on a blazer/coat on top a casual top will make the look formal. Complete the look with a nice classy statement bag and slay your day in shorts.

Most people don’t like to wear shorts but I think they should try, even casually. Personally, my office has no problem with me showing up at work like this especially on a Friday.

I hope you get inspired and try at some point. Until next time, see yah! Xo

Tomboys, I gat you. You just simply swap the shoes….
